It's dispersal season for coyotes; a time when young coyotes leave their parents and find their own territory and mates. That means you may see more of them as they move through new areas.
Coyotes are common across Illinois. They generally pose little threat to humans or pets, and by following a few simple steps, humans and coyotes can peacefully coexist. Please note that in accordance with the City of Batavia municipal code, it is illegal to hunt or kill any animal within city limits.
