City of Batavia Bicycle Plan - As Approved by Ordinance 07-44, May 7, 2007
A Bicycle Advisory Committee that was comprised of local bicyclists, elected officials, along with Park District and City Staff, oversaw the preparation of the document.
There were two Public Meetings to discuss the Plan. The first was a Public Brainstorming Workshop that was held on March 9, 2006. At this meeting, residents gave suggestions for improving existing bicycle routes and other improvements, such as bicycle parking and safe routes to school. At the second meeting, held on March 1, 2007 was for Public comment on the draft Plan. The Bicycle Advisory Steering Committee also went on Bicycle Tours of the Downtown with Batavia Main Street.
The Plan Commission reviewed the draft plan at their April 4th meeting. On April 18, 2007, the Commission held a Public Hearing to incorporate the Plan as part of the Comprehensive Plan.
