HOME SECURITY SURVEY:

A Police Officer trained in burglary prevention will come to your home and make suggestions on proper locks and lighting to minimize the possibility of you becoming the victim of a burglary. To make an appointment for this free service, telephone the Batavia Police department at 630/454-2500.

VACATION HOUSE CHECKS:

The Batavia Police Department offers a vacation house check for residents who will be away from their homes for a few days or a few weeks. This service is not intended for unoccupied homes that are vacant and for sale. You may contact the Batavia Police Department at 630/454-2500 or stop in and fill out a form. The Batavia Police Department is available 24/7 to assist you.

HANDICAPPED PARKING PLACARDS:

Residents who live within the corporate city limits of the City of Batavia and meet the definition of handicapped person as defined in Chapter 625, Section 5/1-159.1, Illinois Compiled Statutes, are eligible for a Temporary Handicapped Parking Placard issued by the City of Batavia.  This temporary placard is good for a period of 90 days and may be renewed for additional periods of 90 days but not greater than one (1) year.  Applications and additional information  may be obtained at the Batavia Police Department or the Secretary of State's Office.

BICYCLE REGISTRATION:

Citizens may register their bicycles at the Batavia Police Department at any time for no charge.  This service records the make, model, color, etc., of each bicycle.  A license sticker is then issued for the owner to affix to their bicycle.  Click here for a bicycle registration form.  Please print out this form, fill it out and return it to the Batavia Police Department.  Forms may also be picked up at the police department.  Bicycles can also be registered with the National Bike Registry at www.nationalbikeregistry.com or by calling 1-800-848-BIKE (2453).

  • 90% of bicycles are "illegally" borrowed as a quick means of transportation and then abandonded
  • A large percentage of these bicycles are eventually recovered, however, they cannot be returned unless the owner is identified
  • Recovered bicycles with license stickers can easily be returned to the owner no matter which police jurisdiction recovers them
  • Always lock your bike, the vast majority of stolen bikes are not locked

If you have any questions, please contact the Batavia Police Department at 630/454-2500.

BLOCK PARTY PERMITS:

The City of Batavia will provide barricades and help you determine a suitable location (if desired) for your neighborhood block party.  Because barricades do not include blinking lights, the party must be removed from the street by dusk.  Permits must be  printed out, completed and returned to the Police Department. Barricades and permission cannot be guaranteed for party’s submitting requests with less than 48 business hours notice of said party.  Barricades will be delivered by the City Street Department prior to your party and picked up following.  It will be the responsibility of a member of your group to set up and remove barricades at the end of the party.  Note: The City of Batavia has an ordinance prohibiting the consumption or possession of open containers of alcoholic beverages on public streets.  Questions?  Contact the Batavia Police Department at 630/454-2500.  Click here for your permit.
