http://www.sharingconnections.org/index.htm
Though a little further away from Batavia, Sharing Connections is the only organization that I found that accepts beds. Sharing Connections provides furniture and household items to low-income families helping them transform a bare apartment or house into a home. Most of our families are coping with crisis like domestic violence, job loss, or financial hardship, with an average annual income of $11,600. Over 50% served are children. |

Carpets |
If the carpet is usable, it can be donated to the Habitat for Humanity ReStorein Elgin. http://www.habitat.org/cd/frame/frameset.aspx?url=www.restoreelgin.org
If it's somewhat reusable, and for some reason the ReStore can't take it, it could be free cycled to people with smaller projects. (In fact, we're about to build a cat tree and could use a couple of sq yds)
If it's ready to be recycled, Woodland says they take carpeting. They say "services restricted to residents of Kane County only."
