Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry is open during construction

While construction takes place near the wastewater treament plant, roads are being kept open to the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and Clothes Closet. That means patrons of the organization can pick up food or clothes as always. Donations are always welcome and can be made through contacting Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry.

The multifaceted infrastructure rehabilitation will be ongoing in Batavia. Through the first of June, utility work on Route 31 will close traffic lanes as Batavia separates stormwater and sewer lines that connect to work being done as we construct a new future for our wastewater.

Batavia Households needed for Water Sampling Program

The Water Dept. is looking for homeowners to participate in our Lead/Copper Sampling Program for drinking water.  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S.E.P.A.) mandates the testing for lead/copper concentrations in drinking water.  Batavia’s water has successfully complied with the lead/copper regulation since the program began in the mid 1990’s.

Potential homes used for testing should be built prior to 1987, or have a lead water service line entering the basement.  Homes with water softeners are disqualified unless they have a hard water by-pass to the kitchen faucet. A City of Batavia Water Technician will need to complete a 5-10 minute in-home analysis to confirm your home meets specific plumbing criteria. The City will be providing a $40.00 credit on water bills to those who participate in the testing program.

Please call the Water Division at 630-454-2450 if you are interested in participating.
