City Seeks Comments on Fourth Bridge Sculpture (Art)
The City has received proposals for the fourth and final William J. Donovan (Wilson Street) Bridge sculpture to represent the theme of "Art".  This work will take its place among the earlier pieces representing, "Nature", History and Science.

The City Council is seeking public input on these seven entries before it makes its decision.  It will also be receiving the opinions of a professional sculptor who works with public art, as well as City staff in terms of durability, susceptibility to vandalism or accident and other considerations important for these long-lasting pieces to grace the bridge.

Please visit cityofbatavia.net/sculpture to view the seven entries along with opportunities for public input.  Input may be provided by email or online form.  The City Council requests your feedback by February 4, 2017.

A Tip from the Batavia Environmental Commission

Although spreading salt on sidewalks and driveways can be necessary at times, over-salting can be harmful to your grass and gardens, and even pets. The best way to ensure clear sidewalks is by removing snow as soon as possible after it accumulates.
If you still need to apply something to help, consider using sand or a product that meets the EPA Safer Choice standard (list available at https://www.epa.gov/saferchoice/products…).

Locally (from the above list) you can find Safe Step 6300 and Safe Step Sure Paws at both Home Depot and Ace Hardware
