Kane County Electronics Recycling Program Resumes
The Kane County Electronics Recycling Program is due to restart in September, after a temporary hiatus. The reinstated program will include three daily drop-off locations throughout the county, as well as the reopening of the one-day collection events in St. Charles. The closest site for Batavia residents is the former Kane County Jail property at 517 Fabyan Parkway, between Route 25 and Kirk Rd. on the north side of the street. Most items are still free, but there will be a charge for TVs and computer monitors, depending on the screen size. Please visit the Kane County Recycles webpage for information about drop off locations, upcoming monthly events, acceptable/unacceptable electronics items, and costs/payment options.
Upcoming Utility Projects
Two upcoming utility projects are slated to start the week of September 12.
The contractor, National Power Rodding, will be cleaning and televising the sewers along Main Street. Limits of the work will be between Water Street and Van Nortwick.
The Tri-Cities Sewer Lining project will involve rehabilitating the sewer lines in various locations around the City. This work will not involve any excavation. The contractor completing the sewer lining will be SAK Construction. Preparatory work will be begin next week with actual lining work starting a few weeks after that. Letters have been sent to those residents directly affected by the lining work.
Both projects are expected to take about 3 to 4 weeks to complete. Maps can be viewed here and here which show the sewer locations to be completed. Traffic impact for the sewer cleaning and lining work is expected to be minimal.
