2016 Christmas Tree Pickup
The two-week period of Christmas tree collection without stickers concluded on Friday, January 15. Beginning the week of Monday, January 18, residents may dispose of Christmas trees by placing them at the curb on their usual collection day with a sticker attached. All materials such as plastic bags, ornaments, lights, nails, etc. should be removed from the trees. Live wreaths and garland should be placed in the regular refuse.
Batavia Electronics Recycling Site Now Permanently Closed
The City of Batavia electronics recycling site has permanently closed, and items are no longer being accepted. Kane County offers monthly electronics recycling events for its residents at 540 S. Randall Rd. in St. Charles (Circuit Court Clerk’s Office) on the second Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, but these events are not held during the winter months of January, February, or March. The City of St. Charles currently offers an electronics recycling drop off location at their Public Works facility, which is located at 1405 S. 7th Ave. in St. Charles. It is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents can visit the Kane County Recycling website for other available options. Martin Luther King Holiday
City offices will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday, January 18. The Advanced Disposal refuse collection schedule will not be affected by the holiday.
