Businesses Open During Construction

Please remember that no businesses are closed due to the Houston Street Project.  The Popcorn Depot, Open Range, Depot Museum, the Professional Building and all the businesses on Island Avenue are all easily accessible at all times, though you may find yourself waling just a bit further for a parking space. Please cross your fingers for continued good work weather.

Houston Street Update

Below is the work scheduled for the remainder of this week and the week of November 16:

  • The final surface has been installed and the striping will be completed tomorrow, Friday, November 13.  Following that, the roadway will be reopened to traffic.
  • Planter island trees will be planted tomorrow, November 13.  No other plantings will occur in the planters until spring of 2016.
  • Rainmakers Irrigation will return after the trees are planted to install the drip line that will complete the system.
  • Thorne Electric is planning to return the week of November 16 to start pulling wire in the conduits.  We are anticipating the street light poles will be received by the first week of December.  The installation of the street light poles will impact some parking stalls, require intermittent lane closures, and impact intersections when that work is being done but this work will be isolated.
  • Breezy Hill should be finished installing the brick at the intersections by Friday, November 20, in the Water intersection and  at Batavia Avenue.  These sections of sidewalks will reopened as the brickwork is finished.  Breezy Hill has two small retaining walls to build and some landscape restoration to complete, as well.
