Beware of Utility Billing Scams

Please be aware of how and when the City of Batavia Utility Billing department may contact you in regards to your utility account.  Don’t be a victim of a utility billing scam.  The City of Batavia will never call you and request you make a payment over the phone.
If you are ever unsure if you are speaking with someone from the City of Batavia, please ask to call the representative back.  City personnel will never tell you that you cannot call them back.  If the caller tells you that you must handle it immediately, you should hang up and call the City at 630-454-2000 or 630-454-2020.

  • If a Utility Billing Representative calls you regarding disconnection of your services or any other matter relating to your account, it would only be between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  In addition, City personnel will never turn power off for non-payment during non-business hours.
  • The Utility Billing Department will never ask for financial information over the phone.
  • The Utility Billing Department will not ask for direct payments to be made at any location other than the City of Batavia Government Center or City of Batavia drop boxes.
  • Electronic payments may be made only through the Payment Service Network (PSN) link which is located on our Web site or by calling (877) 885-7968.  The Utility Billing Department does not process credit or debit card payments nor do they convert checks.  This must be done through PSN and must be initiated by the customer.  In addition, PSN will never contact you asking you to make a payment.
  • If you have become the victim of a utility billing scam, please contact the City of Batavia Police Department and the Utility Billing Department to report the incident.
