The City of Batavia has received the Government Finance Officer's Association award for Excellence in Financial Reporting for each year since its first submission in 2007. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
A monthly report including the balance sheet, revenues, expenditure/expenses, and investments is provided for review. Updates to these reports are sometimes made after distribution so these reports should never be considered final. The reports are provided as a general status of revenues collected year to date and expenditures/expenses year to date. The comparison from year to year is useful, however, it should be noted that sometimes differences occur as a result of timing rather than collection or spending.
The State of Illinois requires that taxing districts file an annual financial report. The information is compiled from the Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports and is prepared by the City's auditors. Information is in summary format and may be useful to readers. The information is also posted on the Illinois Comptroller's website. The Warehouse includes information for all local government bodies in Illinois.
