The Batavia Police Department believes that people will make good choices when they have good information. The department offers a variety of educational programs designed to help citizens obey the law and maximize their safety.
Operation Straight I.D.
The Batavia Police Department, in conjunction with the Illinois Secretary of States Office, periodically offers the holders of liquor licenses as well as tobacco retailers the opportunity to learn the proper procedures for checking identification, and how to fake and altered driver's licenses and ID cards. The Batavia Police Department conducts checks of local liquor and tobacco selling establishments to ensure that persons under the age of 21 are not served or sold alcoholic beverages and that persons under the age of 18 are unable to purchase tobacco products.
Senior citizens have special needs, so the Police Department has developed programs that deal with topics of concern, such as personal safety, paramedic service, and fraud.
